Specifications:

Scope: Furnish and install all vinyl windows of the type and size shown on the drawings and called for in the specification including all necessary hardware, anchors, and trim where noted.

Vertical DetailGeneral: Windows shall be Columbia Series 6300. Single hung vinyl window shall meet or exceed ASTM D4099 grade H-R25. Horizontal sliding window shall meet ASTM D4099 grade HS-R15.

Material: All frame and sash members shall be manufactured of extruded, high-impact-resistant, UV stabilized, rigid virgin polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with nominal .070" masterframe and .065" sash members. Frame members shall be of multi-chambered design. Sill shall contain an internal weepage system for efficient water drainage to the exterior. All exposed weather-stripping, hardware and fasteners shall be stainless steel, aluminum, nylon or other suitable material compatible with rigid PVC. Horizontal sliding windows will contain a drop-in PVC track for convenient cleaning and maintenance. Frame members shall have pre-punched integral 1 ¼" nailer fins.

Construction: All masterframe and sash members shall be miter-cut and fusion-welded. Double-hung sash units shall be the tilt-type. The window shall incorporate fin-type weatherstripping inserted into designed grooves and have continuous contact with frame members when in a closed position.

Glazing: All glass measures 3/4" overall using two panes of double strength annealed glass. All glass shall be set on blocks and shall be placed against double sided adhesive foam glazing tape. The fixed lite shall be heel beaded across the sill and 6" up the sides and retained on the interior with extruded one finger vinyl snap-in glazing beads, the bead corners shall be sealed. The sash shall be retained on the exterior with vinyl snap-in glazing bead.

Horizontal DetailHardware: A cam latch shall be doule screw connected to the mid-point of the sash interlock using #10 x 7/8" screws and engage a corresponding double screw connected to the fixed interlock using #6 x 1 screws.

Finish: All window members shall have an integral white color throughout the profile.

Insect screens: All operating vents shall be designed to receive screens. Screen frames to be extruded aluminum with baked enamel color to be compatible with PVC fames. 18 x 16 fiberglass cloth meeting ASTM D3656 shall be secured to the frame using a vinyl spline. Screens shall be retained by the integral beveled tubular PVC screen track. Insect screens are not for the purpose of providing security or for providing retention of objects or persons from the interior.

Erection and Caulking (by others): All units shall be adequately and securely fastened plumb, level and square without distortion, twisting, bowing or springing of frame members. All frame members shall be properly supported, shimmed, and leveled along their entire length. All units shall be properly caulked using a good grade of non-hardening caulking that is compatible with PVC and the surface it is mounted on to provide a thoroughly water-tight seal meeting AAMA 808.3. The masterframe is to be installed square with the operating sash. The sash should be operated and the masterframe should be given any necessary final adjustment to insure proper operation and weather-tightness.

Water Drainage: Water shall drain from the interior sill pocket though a 1" x 3/16" slot in the center leg at the interior sill corners to the exterior through a 1 1/4" x 5/16" slot approximately 3" from the exterior sill corners. The fixed lite glazing pocket shall drain thorough a 1/4" diameter hole at the mid-point and 1/2" from the jambs. The sash glazing pocket shall drain through a 5/8" and 1/8" slot at each end of the bottom glazing beads. Snap-in weep covers with hinged doors shall be placed in the exterior sill weeps.

Reinforcement: Steel reinforcement shall be used for the fixed and sliding interlocks.
